BIRDS SINGING AT DAWN, A CRESCENT MOON - THE BREATHLESS GRANDEUR, GREATNESS, GOODNESS, GLORY OF GOD!

At dawn, 4 am, an hour before sunrise, out my large, east-facing, second story bedroom window, I enjoy a breathtaking, waning crescent moon, rising just above the trees.

Oh, wow, wow, wow - the surge of expression in my breast - the shear grandeur, greatness, goodness, glory or our great Creator God!

Stepping out side, yes, wow, wow, wow, again, the strong, boisterous chirping song of a bird in the pine trees 30 meters away, with a subdued response - sort of a low snickering - as maybe his young were answering him.

Seemed directed right at me -- some articles suggest, yes -- indeed, toward humans near by.

God knew I was thinking of writing on this grand subject.

I try to get all my articles at God's impetus.

I felt like breaking out with the old hymn, "Oh for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemers praise."

Birds singing - a wondrous, dauntingly inexaustible, intricate, beautiful, subject.

Intricate -- but an absolutely obviously the display of God's greatness.

I am overwhelmed, but I will say what I can.

Amazing and intricate singing birds ALONE! ---

PROVE GOD'S EXISTENCE, ABSOLUTELY DECLARING HIS GREATNESS.

There are some 4000 species of songbirds, about half of the world's birds.

A morning devotion or quiet time with God is important.

The shear pleasantness of the crescent moon at dawn and the bird's singing reminded me of another old Christian song --

"When morning gilds the skies, my heart awakening cries, may Jesus Christ be praised"!

And in New Testament Romans 11 Apostle Paul speaking in the Holy Spirit:

³³O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

And in Psalm 104:

¹Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

²Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

³Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

⁴Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

⁵Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

Singing of birds is a very complex, multifaceted, inexhaustible subject, but some very neat things struck me.

National Geographic tells the incredible finding of little birds high in the Majestic Andes Mountains of South America making violin-like singing with their feathers:

"Solving a longstanding puzzle among bird experts, scientists have found that the sharp, violin-like sounds of a South American songbird come not from the beak but from a suite of specially evolved, vibrating feathers.

A new study offers the first hard evidence that birds use feathers for audible communication as well as for flight and warmth.

In 2005 Kimberly Bostwick theorized that the male club-winged manakin—a tiny bird of the Andean cloud forest—was vibrating a club-shaped wing feather against a neighboring, ridged feather to "sing" when trying to attract females."

The Cornel Lab of Ornithology has a great site on birds singing including many recordings.

They tell of the Male Western Sandpipers making flights over their territories in the Arctic tundra singing while flying. Many other great reports at their web site.

A funny one is that of the cockatiel bird which will talk like a human and even sing human songs.

Another funny and amazing one, the Lyre bird will, not only mimic the songs of other birds, but amazingly will also mimic human made sounds like camera shutters and chain saws that it has heard in the forest.

I REALLY MUST SAY THAT MANY OF THESE SITES STRIVE FOR NATURALISTIC EXPLANATIONS, LIKE MATING, TERRITORIAL DEFENSE, ETC., AS REASONS FOR THE ORIGINS OF BIRDS SINGING, ETC.

TRUTH BE THAT GOD DISPLAYS HIS AWESOME CREATIVE PROWESS AND ABILITY AND IS DUE FULL GLORY.

God is demonstrating his absolute reality, power, and greatness for all to plainly see.

MATING AND OTHER FUNCTIONS ARE, OF COURSE, INCLUDED AND PROVIDED FOR, BY GOD.

IT IS INSANE TO IMAGINE THAT COSMIC, BLIND CHANCE EVOLUTION CAN EVEN BEGIN TO EXPLAIN THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF THE IMMENSE VARIETY AND INTRICACIES OF BIRD SINGING AND BEHAVIOR.

Obviously, all this astonishing, immensely diverse, behaviors of birds must be provided for in their genetic codings.

Special Creation is an absolute fact, an absolute certainty. God owns us because he made us.

Romans 1:17-25 says the things God has made, makes him known to all mankind, so no one has excuse:

I use the acronym G-R-A-C-E to remind me that Christianity is GLUED to Special Creation:

G -- God's goodness, greatness, grandeur, glory -- shine brilliantly forth in all the marvelous things he has MADE. They prove he really does exist, and that our very best devotion is appropriate toward him.

Juries are convinced by a COMBINATION of testimony and physical evidences. If physical evidences are lacking a jury may be indecisive.

It is the same for all humans. God is revealed in what he has made, what he has done, and what he has said, or had written in his word.

C -- Character of God-- God rules over us in righteousness -- because we owe our very creation and existence to God -- he has moral right -- we are his property -- same as if you made something -- you own it.

E -- Evangelism with Exuberance. As the weight of TOTAL evidences sinks down inside of us and brings us to the full realization that we really are in possession of the absolute truth and that we can guide lost, confused, frightened, and weary people, to the Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, and to everlasting salvation in his eternal family then --

We -- you and I -- will be possessed by Evangelism with Exuberance.
