If this seeming assalt against our Mighty Mississippi continues -- is it a judgement of God against
I'd say Yes, I don't see how it could not be.
have many articles at this site relating to gender distinction.
These distinctions are deliberate
purposes of God and come directly from God's person as a straight male being -- Jesus Christ repeatedly called him "Father,"
-- meaning a straight male.
Womanhood is the compliment TO
God's masculine being, manhood is the image of God's being.
specifications are NOT up to individual, NOT individual nor societal prerogatives.
Together, properly related, man and woman are to publically portray God as the straight male he is.
God is a spirit, with a spirit body, as believers will be in the resurrection, and his body is a male body.
God's image is a very serious matter.
So, national judgement is very likely to be involved
in the calamities we are facing.
Enemy activity, foreign or domestic -- was historically a major
part of God's national disciplining of ancient Israel and of other nations too.
God has important
purposes that are being accomplished in human history.
God will show that ONLY he is
qualified to be God, that he is truly good and righteous, and that evil is really evil.
did not make human history to go on and on pointlessly.
So, certainly a major turning in history
and shifting in his purposes in this nation and world, are likely involved, if indeed the Mississippi River is fundamentally
God is able to do both, punish sinful nations and people, and unfold new portions of
his purpose in history.

It is certainly unsettling, for us, to think of such a major change in our country.
We should not pin our security on the temporal things around us, but endeavor to place that trust in God.
But we can come increasingly to trust in God, only by exercising ourselves in a serious walk with God.
Like practicing a sport leads to greater confidence and ability.
After terrible disasters,
as the media interviews survivors, we see the two types, those who thank God for saving them, realizing their possessions
can be replaced, and those who are utterly devastated by the loss.
The New Testament Book of Hebrews
chapter 11:1-11 says:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen.
by it the elders obtained a good report.
faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things
which do appear.
faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God
testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had
translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh
to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen
as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir
of the righteousness which is by faith.
faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he
went out, not knowing whither he went.
faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs
with him of the same promise:
he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed,
and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
For more detail on this subject see my web pages God's Hall of Fame, Abraham and Sarah's Miracle Baby.
We should look back to Old Testament Israel for many critical lessons.
look back further to the times of the Patriarchs for many important lessons too.
The books of
Psalms and Proverbs contain the inspired reflection on Israel's history.
We do have to contend
with the forces of evil bent on doing wickedly in their long war against God.
It does seem to
often take some major calamity, war, disaster, to get people to answer the wake up call.
Some terrible, stunning event to force a society to make a major change, seems often called for.
In the New Testament Passage of Ephesians 6:10-18, we are told to put on the whole armour of God:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in
the Lord, and in the power of his might.
on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that
ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of
your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked.
take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

|"Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies and Amber Waves of Grain,"
We Seniors remember back to a time when, as school children, we sang, "My Country tis of Thee
(God)," and Battle Hymn of the Republic, and "Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies and Amber Waves of Grain," and
many other songs of praise, thanksgiving, and acknowledgement to God.
We celebrated Christmas,
and Easter, and Thanksgiving in public school.
There was even prayer in public schools.
But the forces of evil have worked relentlessly, often in secret, and often through people we trust, like clergy.
So, now it is illegal to do many of the things I mentioned above.
We have turned our
back on God, from a public, national standpoint -- we should fear his response.
