Martin Luther (Wikipedia), German professor of theology, priest, former monk and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation, is to me, a HERO of the faith.
There can be little doubt US civil rights
leader, the late Martin Luther King Jr. (Wikipedia) was, namesake to, or named after the Reformer.
I say this was very wise for
his parents to do so.
I, with my wife's agreement, named all our children after great Biblical
heroes.
We feel this makes for a great witness for God, and also, gives the children godly heroes
to emulate.
Wikipedia states in their early life and education section: "King was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr., and Alberta Williams King.[1] King's legal name at birth was Michael King,[2] and his father was also born Michael King, but the elder King changed his and his son's names following a 1934 trip
to Germany to attend the Fifth Baptist World Alliance Congress in Berlin. It was during this time he chose to be called Martin Luther King in honor of the German reformer Martin Luther.[
