It is critical to point out, here, that the physchology and psychiatry folks are dead wrong here.

If you ask them what makes our concienceness, or where do our thoughts come from, their answer in inevitably going to be - chemistry.  That is all they can say.

Thoughts are information - like an idea, or a suggestion or instruction to do something, or refrain from doing something.

Chemistry ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT MAKE INFORMATION.

1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
